Aylesbury Duck

A pure white breed of duck thought to have been created by selective breeding of coloured ducks in the 18th Century.

Historically the Ducks were walked to market in London. The drovers would stop at inns where enclosed yards were available to hold their flocks. Each morning, the birds would be driven through a tar bath and then walked through sand or sawdust to provide rudimentary shoes to protect their feet on the 40 mile road trip to London.
