Fruit Pastilles

Small, round jelly pastilles with fruit flavouring, distinguished from fruit 'gums' by having a sugar crystal coating.

Known at least since the 1870's when they were commonly advertised, as with many earlier sweets, for their medicinal value, as 'pectoral' (ie. of the chest) fruit pastilles
