Also called Poor-man's Asparagus, Allgood, Blite, Goosefoot, Lincolnshire Spinach or Markery, there is good evidence that this plant has been eaten since Anglo-Saxon times. It fell from favour in the 19th century, but is still cultivated in Lincolnshire.
