Tiny (c¾ ins by 1/4ins) round sweet plain biscuits of medium bake, each with a swirl of hard, coloured icing, approximately 1/2ins high on top. The little 'Gem' biscuits were first manufactured by
Huntley and Palmer of Reading in the 1850's, the icing being added in 1910.
