In 1932, Forrest Mars, the estranged son of American candy maker Frank Mars, came to England and, at a rented factory in Slough, began manufacturing the chocolate bars which remain virtually unchanged to this day. The Slough factory now makes some three million per day. He later returned to the USA and, on his death in 1999, was worth some $4 Billion.
The equivalent of 'Mars' is sold in the USA as 'Milky Way', while the equivalent of the UK 'Milky Way' is sold as '3 Musketeers'.
