Thunder and Lightning

With thanks to Shannon Burton-Rushworth: "A recipe appears in an Australian newspaper (The Caulfield and Elsternwick Leader) in 1893, and reads as follows:

"There is one form of this dainty particular to the West Countree that deserves mention, and that is 'Thunder and Lightning sandwich'. This is made by spreading some slices of bread very thickly with clotted cream, sprinkling this generously with golden syrup, and then covering the whole with more slices of plain bread, or spread bread with cream, and dust rather thickly with powdered vanilla chocolate"
