A peppery salad leaf (Eruca sativa), known at least since Digby 1669, but rather fallen from favour in the 19th Century, to be revived in the late 20th. cf. Hedge Mustard

'Acetaria: A Discourse of Sallets' by John Evelyn (Evelyn 1699), has; "Rocket, Eruca Spanish; hot and dry, to be qualified with Lettuce, Purcelain, and the rest, &c" and derscribes a 'Goodly Sallet' as including "Lettuce, Leeks, Mint, Rocket, Colewort-Tops, with Oyl and Eggs."
